Green Sofa Table Makover

I have become obsessed with Facebook classified groups! It's basically people posting stuff for sale in group pages. I'll admit though, I buy more than I sell....shhhh don't tell my husband.
I picked up this antique sofa table for a steal!

I'll never understand why people would put this many water rings in beautiful furniture!

Even after sanding and staining you could still see some of the water rings. I found a youTube video where a guy used an iron over a cloth and the heat drew the rings out!!
IT WORKED!!

She has beautiful curves and details!

I used Americana Décor Chalky Finish in New Life green. I then glazed it with stain and lightly distressed it. I love how adding color to it made all those beautiful details pop!

Upcycled Drawer to Shadow Box

It's a little hard for me to toss solid wood items!

My boys were ready for a room makeover and it was time to toss their desk. I tried selling it for a small price and - NOTHING!

Which turned out to be a good thing. Before kicking the ugly little wood desk to the curb, I saw new life in the drawers!

What they looked like when I propped them up. I have three of them and have only redone one of them.

First I painted it all white except for the bottom part. I re-stained the bottom board.
I used Mod Podge to place some pretty left over napkins to the back wall.

I have two more drawers to do and plan on hanging them together on the wall.

French Provincial Dresser Makeover

This makeover was one of the biggest/longest projects I've completed yet. The dresser is 7' long! I did four coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and sealed it with Annie Sloan clear wax.

I love the way it turned out!!
Beautiful curves on this one!!

I did some distressing on all the high points of this piece.

I forgot to take before pictures with nothing on the dresser. This is what it looked like before and was used for an engagement party.

Nursery Design Board

I was recently asked to partake in a fun design challenge for Chairish- a fun site to buy and sell vintage furniture, décor, jewelry and accessories.  I found many furniture pieces that I just LOVED! I included a couple in my design.

I had 10 vintage rugs to choose from and since "baby" is all I think about right now the grey and yellow modern one jumped out at me for a nursery!! I'm 18 weeks pregnant. Grey and yellow is one of my favorite color combinations and is gender neutral. You can always add that hint of pink for a girl or a hint of blue for a boy if you wanted to.

I'm not big on "themes" for a room. I like using color and patterns for a design concept. I think that if you have to look at owls or monkeys for a year or two you'll never want to see one again!! Patterns are classic and timeless. Pops of color are so easy to change when you feel you need a change!

I'm a vintage lover at heart but mixing modern with vintage can give a room a very comfortable and unique feel.....not like you just stepped into a catalog ready room. Don't be afraid to mix patterns. It might be a challenge at first but when you get it right you'll say, WOW:)
For example, the crib bedding- a very graphic pattern mixed with geometric or faux bois in the same color family.

I absolutely fell in love with the ruffled curtains; they add texture to the room and I was trying to find yellow ones with a link but no luck. Urban Outfitters has grey ones. Anthropology is another favorite of mine for curtains.

Another big thing for me is the "glider". It doesn't have to be your typical ugly glider anymore. There are so many better choices out there for us moms to be! I'm IN LOVE with the wingback rocker I found online at Target and they had a couple others that I loved as well!

Don't be afraid to step out the box for a nursery. For an example: the changing table, I would use the blue dresser with a changing pad on top. This is a much prettier look than your typical changing table. Look at that beautiful vintage grey and white dresser! Every piece of furniture in a nursery doesn't have to match.

Hope this helps inspire you for your next room makeover!
