Lamp Revamp

I have had this lamp for about 10 years now & at one point I had two of them. Unfortunately through many moves one of them broke. I wish I could find a better before picture, but my wonderful husband has "misplaced" them! He's always moving & deleting pictures on our computer...I take A LOT of project pic's.

before

The base was an antique gold, yellowish, & green color before. I liked it but was ready for a change.
After

I'm not sure about the brass between the base & the shade...I think I'm going to spray that as well.
I spray painted the base with a coat of Primer, it took about 3/4 of a can. This lamp is quite large. Then 1 can of Rust-Oleum's Heirloom White in satin. I'm LOVING this color!!! I added some gray glaze to the raised detailed areas. I REALLY need to work on my glazing...not so good at that. I still need to get a coat of sealer in it but Home Depot was out of the Clear Satin.

On to the lamp shade portion. I used Loctite spray Adhesive & 3/4 of a yard of fabric. I bought this fabric about 6 months ago just because I loved it! Some shades are large at the base & small at the top witch can make for fabric wrapping a little tricky. Luckily mine was only an inch difference so I just laid the fabric out put the bottom the shade about 3/4 of an inch up from the fabric & spayed adhesive on to the lamp shade. If you wait about 5-10 seconds the adhesive got "stickier" if you apply the fabric right away it's a little wet. Roll the fabric onto the shade, pull & rub as your rolling (laying) the fabric on.

Trimmed of the excess fabric, leaving about a 1/2 - 3/4 of an inch to fold over.

At the seam, spay the back side of your excess fabric & fold it onto it's self. Then spray your seam down. Spay the top & bottom rim of the shade from the inside and tuck your fabric over.

I love it! It's now in the master bedroom.
