I delivered Kathy's custom clock memorial over the weekend and her FURNITURE. I LOVE pallet wood! You just get this "roughness" in the wood that you really can't find in any other wood, unless you can find a salvage yard with re-purposed wood.
You can see a full tutorial on another pallet clock that I made HERE.
That's the plaque in the making...the round thing:)

Stained, dry brushed, and laying out the numbers & letters.
My mom bought my the cutest craft kit at Micheal's and it's been put to good use.
And the finished plaque!!! Along with a hanger for her horses tail and halter.
Lil' Bit was a top barral racer in her younger days, so what better way to remember her by with a silhouette of a barrel racer with a heart around her.
I really love this clock wall plaque! It's a fun way to have something decorative and meaningful on your wall.
We love you Lil' Bit

So awesome - you have the best ideas!!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks really cool!!! Nice job on the clock and what a nice remembrance!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memory piece! But I"d put real clock workings in this beauty before delivering myself. It's too stunning not to be a working piece of art!
ReplyDeleteShared this on FJI Facebook for SNS 97. :)

I am loving that! A.Lot!
ReplyDeleteI've always struggled with Pallet wood and struggle even more with clock mechanisms lol.
Loving this though and determined to make something half decent from my next pallet.
Although if you ever find a way to dismantle them without wrecking the wood - I'm all ears! But I guess the person that comes up with that one could make an awful lot of money. lol.
It looks great! You are so talented!

ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely rustic piece...and what a special tribute to Lil Bit.
ReplyDeleteCould you possibly let me know which font you used for the clock numbers?

I would love to know which font as well. It's really cute.
DeleteI just LUV this clock, Desiree! Now I want to make one! What font did you use on the words and numbers? And how did you nail the boards together? Do you have horizontal boards across the back of the clock...? Thanks - and GREAT job! Love that it's a tribute to your sweet horse... ♥
