DIY Farmhouse Wall Decor

I'm in the process of giving our half bath a mini makeover. It's going to have a farmhouse feel to it since it's in the hallway where I did the faux shiplap. Hobby Lobby has 50% off home décor right now and these wire baskets are only $2.50! I wasn't sure what I was going to do with them but, I needed them!

The bathroom needs something small and simple to hang on the wall & these are perfect as well décor.

I added a glass jar with some jute twin. Target one spot has a 5 pack of spice jars for $3. I had several on hand.
Add some flowers to the jars and your done.

I'll share a little secret how I hang light items on the wall. Thumbtacks!! I hang just about EVERYTHING with them!

Dresser Refinished with Fusion Mineral Paint

I love trying new paint products. There are so many different brands and they just seem to get better and better as time goes on. When I started painting furniture 6-7 years ago, you had sand and prime furniture. Although I still have to do that with some pieces, paint has come a long ways in the last 7 years. I decided to go with Fusion Mineral Paint for this bedroom set. I've been following their Instagram page and a few other furniture experts that use the paint and was loving what I was seeing!!

You don't need to sand or prime and it's self sealing so, you don't need to wax or seal it. That being said, on this set I'm refinishing it has several knots in the wood. I've learned my lesson with knots and went ahead and primed this dresser to play it safe with bleeding in the future. I did clean the whole dresser first with TSP and gave it a light sand by hand to rough up the surface a little.

This color is Champlain and it is the perfect creamy white.

The packaging just makes you want to paint the day away!!! "Paint is good for the soul" does it get any better than that? Ummm, NO!
This paint was NOT a disappointment! So smooth and easy to use.

I went with light distressing on the edges.

Bunny Ears Treat Bags

I try to make a little something handmade every year for the kid's and this year I needed something easy. How cute are these bunny ears treat bags? All you need are, paper bags, I decided on white, color paper for the center of the ears and twine.
I found this adorable floral gift wrap paper at T.J.Maxx and thought it would be the perfect pop of color for the bunny ears.

I made a templet so the ears would all be the same size and cute the center out of the template for the colored part of the ears. You can just flip the center template cutout over for the other side of the ear instead of making two.

I then traced the ears onto the paper bags and cut them out. Then trace the smaller center ear cutout onto your decorative paper and cut them out. Glue them to your paper bag and finish it off with twine. First fill your treat bags though....haha

Let me know if you give these a try and your kids enjoy them!

Hand Painted Eggs

Easter is right around the corner and I can't seem to get enough of floral patterns right now. Stores only carry colorful eggs or bright colored eggs. So, I thought may as well paint some of my own! Stores carry these faux eggs for crafting and they are just perfect for this craft!

I started out by painting a few in a soft purple and soft pink. Giving me a mix of white, purple and pink.
Next, I did a few with green vines and some with large flowers. A tip when painting, I always dip my brush into two color. I try to two similar colors, one light and one dark. When you go to paint after picking up two colors onto your brush, you will get a nice depth to what you paint. I just did a swooping motion, staying in one area and creating 4-5 swoops all in a ball to create the flowers. Went back and did some white details to highlight some petals, gave each flower a center and leaves.

For the vines, I just did several green squiggles and dabbed tree dots in a circle creating a flower. Go back and give each one a center and add some flower buds in there with a half dot.

Painting is so soothing! It's not difficult and if you were uncomfortable trying to free hand it, use stencils.

I tried a few different other ideas for use. I decided on making a center piece for the table.

Modern Easter Table Setting

When It comes to party décor, I love a lot of different styles! My favorite is vintage but, I love modern as well when it comes to party décor. Since we'll be having an Easter party at our house, I thought what a great chance to mix vintage and modern!

The black & white paper, mini garden pots and napkin ring holders add the perfect touch of modern!

I used gold chargers, black & white stripped wrapping paper for the table cloth & layered it with lace.

I absolutely LOVE the Pioneer Woman goblets and dessert glass!! These will get used for many parties to come:)

I made the napkin ring holders out of toilet paper rolls and wrapped ribbon around them. I painted small terracotta pots black and white, places a moss ball inside it and topped it off with a ceramic bunny head. Isn't it cute?

Hope I've inspired you to play with some vintage and modern décor for your next party!
