Dollar Tree Wall Bats

When I came across the Bat Cut Outs at the Dollar Tree I couldn't believe it!

I'll have another great Dollar Tree Halloween post next week too!
With a little inspiration and imagination you can tweak Dollar Tree goodies.

I've made some in the past but over the years but they have gotten torn and bent. So 15 of them for a $1 was a score! You could always add more to the collection if you wanted to.

I cut off the little nose on some of them and if you wanted to you could cut off the feet as well.

If you do an accordion fold to the wings it will give them a 3D effect.

I used Sticky Tack for the back and placed them randomly on the wall.

Supper simple and love the look!

Ballard Designs Inspired Whitewashed Table

I have had my eye on Ballard Designs "Ceylon" outdoor collection for some time now.  With a price tag of $479 for just the table, it's never going to happen!

This what the table looked like before....a yellowish blonde wood?
It was at least a lighter colored wood making it easier to get a nice whitewashed finish.

I sanded the whole thing down and did a light layer of watered down grey paint over the whole thing to help tone some of the "yellow" down before layering the white dry brush on.

This is my third whitewashed piece and I have tried a different technique each time!

It's just paint and most of the time if I didn't like what I was seeing I could just wipe it off.

Now for the pretty shots!

If you are in the Orlando area, she is for sale! $125

Pottery Barn Inspired Stick Art

This is a picture I found in the Pottery Barn Christmas catalog 2011.
Notice the birch tree letters saying NOEL? Isn't it fabulous!

I wish we had birch trees in Florida, but cypress branches will have to do.
While at my mothers house two months ago we cut down some cypress bushes and I brought home a pile of branches for Christmas garland and such. The branches made for perfect letter making.

This is what I pieced together.

My husband will be happy to see that the branches I have had on the back porch for a month and a half....GONE!

Now I just need to add some garland around it and I'll be happy with it:-)
