Red White & Blue Tablescape Blog Hop

I'm so excited to be joining 20 other talented bloggers for this Red White & Blue Tablescape Blog Hop! When Chloe at Celebrate and Decorate asked me to join I was thrilled! I had already put together a Vintage Chic 4th Tablescape a couple weeks back and I had some other ideas already spinning in my head as I was setting that one for another one! haha, funny how that works, right?

When I think about what the 4th of July means to me, I think history! The signing of the Declaration of Independence, our freedom & land of our own!  I had these elements in my mind when I was playing with ideas. I wanted to set the table with a vintage/history feeling but still elegant.

What really stands out to me when I think of the 4th of July is The Declaration of Independence. I've always wanted to create a book page table runner and this seemed like the perfect time! The book pages stand for the signing of The Declaration of Independence. The fern leaves laid out on the book page table runner stand for the land and nothing stands out more than our American flag! I made the flag bunting a few years ago to hang above our front door and I decided to use it on the table this year.

I love using my Pioneer Woman Sundae Cups as vases and was looking to add Daisies for that Summer feel but baby's breath worked just fine too!

I'm not big on the color red so I tend to add just little pops of it through linens, food or books like I did to build a simple centerpiece to carry on with the book page table runner.

For a little extra red I placed some strawberries in the blue ironstone bowls I found on craigslist last year.

I really wanted to use doilies for the chargers but non of mine were large enough, but they did look cute on top of the dinner plates. They add some texture and I wanted to incorporate vintage items to give this tablescape a feeling of history. I ended up getting the wicker chargers at HomeGoods. I tried lace placemats and those didn't look bad either but these looked better!

I hope you've enjoyed my vintage inspired tablescape! It's been fun joining the other bloggers in this 4th Tablescape Blog Hop! Be sure to go visit the others listed down below!

  1. Very nice table Desiree...your pops of red are perfect laid against your table runner of pages of print. What a find on Craig's list for your berry bowls....and the strawberries are so tempting. It is a pleasure to blog hop with you and looking forward to many more.

  3. You certainly did carry through your goal of elegant but historic with your pretty tablescape. I think you are right, we all, at one point want to do a book page runner, and this was the perfect occasion. The flag banner laid out on the book pages gives a great little pop of color. Thank you so much for being a part of the blog hop! Happy 4th to you and your lovely family!

  8. I have to admit this is one of the loveliest vignettes in this bloghop! The book page runner is ingenious, and the ambience is so subtle, with just the right amount of blues and reds. So so lovely!

  9. I also really liked the runner in particular. It was clever to lie the flag banner flat on the table. I have a similar, but tea-stained banner I will have to try and use in a similar manner.
